CBC Basketball League

Not your normal league.

Our Mission

Our mission is to use this basketball ministry as a tool to make a spiritual impact in our community and to strengthen the relationships within our church families. We look at this as an opportunity for people in our churches to serve, to share their faith, and to make an eternal difference in the lives of those they come in contact with. Our desire is to use the sport of basketball as a means to touch the lives of these young people and their families with the love of Christ.

FAQ's

  • When does registration open and how do I register? Registration opens on November 1st at 8 AM and closes on November 30th at 12 PM.  Some divisions do fill up quickly, so to secure a spot, you may want to register sooner than later. Registration can be found on Communitybible.net/basketball.  Late registration (additional $10 fee) may be available for any openings that remain beginning on December 1st – January 1st.

  • What is the time commitment? CBC Basketball is an 8-week season, beginning early January through mid-March, followed by a week-long tournament.  Practices begin one week prior to the start of the season.  Teams practice one hour per week and play one one-hour game per week.  There are a few teams that may have a bye week or a double-header during the season.

  • What are the age groups? Our league is open to 1st through 12th grade players.  Divisions may need to be rearranged slightly from year to year based on the number of registrants in each age group. Currently our divisions are as follows:

    • 1st - 2nd Grade Co-ed

    • 3rd – 4th Girls

    • 3rd – 4th Boys

    • 5th -7th Girls

    • 5th - 6th Boys

    • 7th – 8th Boys

    • 8th - 12th Girls (3-on-3 Half-court)

    • 9th – 10th Boys

    • 11th – 12th Boys

  • What is the cost? The registration fee is $100 for 1st- 6th grade and $110 for 7th – 12th grade.  A jersey will also need to be purchased for $25, unless you already have one from a previous year.

  • What days are games?  Most games will be held on Saturdays, with a possible Friday evening game on occasion.

  • When will I know which team my child is on? Teams will be determined after the registration window closes on November 30th AND after coaches meet in mid-December.  You can plan to hear from their coach after that time.

  • What days are practices? Your child’s team will be assigned a standing one-hour practice time each week.  Practices may be on any of the following days, determined by coach and gym space availability: Sunday (afternoon), Monday (evening), Tuesday (evening), or Thursday (evening).

  • Can my middle school/high school student who is playing on their school basketball team participate in your league? Per MHSAA rules, high school players as well as middle school girls who are on a school basketball team roster are not permitted to play on a recreation team during their season if it overlaps with our league.  Please direct any questions regarding this policy to your school’s athletic director.  Due to the fact that middle school boys basketball season ends prior to the start of our season, they are able to register and play both.

  • Are there try-outs or experience needed to play? No try-outs or experience required. Our league welcomes both experienced as well as brand new players and all in between. We do our best to spread players out evenly across teams so that each team is relatively balanced based on grade/age, experience level, and in some cases height.

  • Can I request a coach/teammate for my child? Due to the size of the league and multiple factors that we take into account when forming teams, we are unable to promise specific placements on teams or that friends will be placed together on the same team.  Our goal is to keep teams as evenly balanced as possible based on grade and experience when determining placements.  That being said, we are allowing registrants the option to share a preferred coach/teammate on the registration form this year.  Once again, we do not guarantee specific placements with friends or coaches, but will share with the coaches any requests received when forming teams.

  • What do I do if my child’s division is already filled? There is a link on the registration page to sign up on the Waitlist.  If an opening comes available, we will reach out to the next player on the waitlist for that division according to the date received.  Once contacted, families will have a 24 hour window to either accept or decline the opening before we move on to the next person on the waitlist.

  • Can I put together my own team and join your league? This is not an option for our league.  We strive to maintain an equal balance between teams when considering age and experience.  All players will need to register through either the Naz or CBC registration and will be assigned a team based on our team selection process.
